Through every donation, The Smile Foundation is able to help many children with facial abnormalities get the surgery they need. They are also able to give their families much-needed support and psychological help. But, there are a few unsung heroes that deserve a huge shoutout. Those are the people behind the smiles.

Superheroes don’t always wear a cape; sometimes they put on their scrubs and save the day. We know that without the awesome doctors and surgeons, none of the life-changing surgeries would be possible. They dedicate their time without asking for anything in return to every single child. They work tirelessly to make sure that every surgery is successful and that every child goes home with a smile. That’s why we want to give a feelgood shoutout to all of them for all the wonderfilled work they do. Fun Fact: Steve Biko Academic Hospital is one of the few hospitals that have a plastic surgeon and a maxillofacial surgeon working as a team.

From the moment they arrive to the moment they leave and every check-up that follows, the little ones and their families are in the safe hands of the wonderfilled nurses. They may not have magic wands, but they have a magical way of making sure that the children are well taken care of and have everything they need for their surgeries. They are always there to help the doctors and surgeons too; there really is nothing that they don’t do. For all the feelgood work that they do, all the nurses deserve a huge HOORAAY!! You’re truly appreciated.
